PK - OUR LITTLE FOUR LEGGED MATE PASSED AWAY

This week our faithful little dog PK, passed away. She had become such a big part of our family and will be missed greatly. She has been with us for nearly 11.5 years, living in many different places and travelling to all states and territories except WA and Tassie.

Join me on a photo story on our little fury friend PK.

We got PK in May 2012 while living at Lajamanu in the Tanami Desert. She had just been weaned. Shortly after we went camping. In the photo below she pays Nancy a good morning visit.

Right from a young age she enjoyed time on the kayak - fishing on the Victoria River.

A few months later we spent a week in Alice Springs staying with Al, Cathy and family - in the middle of winter. PK curled up next to their dog 'Diesel'.

In late 2013 while travelling from SE Queensland to Alice Springs, we spent a few days at Emerald and did some kayaking on the Nogoa River. PK had a really good sense of balance.

Enjoying a pat and a scratch with Dean.

Fishing on the Victoria River.

During a visit to Darwin - Brutus not wanting to share his bone.

While living in Darwin Nancy raised some ducklings. When the male grew older he became bossy, wanting to be the 'Alfa male'. PK was very gentle and long suffering with the duck. One Sunday morning we heard a bit a commotion and investigated - PK had one of her front feet on the duck's neck. She could killed the duck easily but true to her lovely nature, just gently put the duck in its place.

In 2015 we had our caravan parked in Dean's driveway when I was working for the Traditional Credit Union (TCU). Nancy was spending quite a bit of time in Queensland so I would fly down every so often. PK quickly worked out when I was preparing to go somewhere. Her mood would turn very sad. In the photo below she is under the caravan as the taxi pulled up and refused to come out for a goodbye pat. When I would return she would be almost jumping out of her skin with excitement.

While working for the TCU,  I travelled quite a lot. On some of my driving trips PK accompanied me - which she really enjoyed. The Nissan Navavra I drove had a large centre console on which she loved to sit.

After a big day kayaking in the Victoria River PK was absolutely spent and fell asleep in this position.

She loved walks - especially on a beach - this one was Casuarina Beach, Darwin.

In 2016 while working at Papunya, PK and I climbed the range to the south of Papunya. Where the spinifex was too thick and high for her to negotiate, she would just stop and look up at the me expectingly.

Enjoying some time around the fire at Booroobin.

PK knew when Nancy or I should be returning and would wait expectantly. Below she is looking down the driveway at Booroobin.

PK enjoy many 'holidays' at Dean's place - below Dean has just bathed PK.

PK came with me to Ryandale station near Cunnamulla in SW Queensland in 2019 to caretake the property while the owners took a break. Below we are checking stock on a motorbike.

Feeding the bulls at Ryandale.

Checking the water troughs at Ryandale. She rode on the back of the bike like a pro!

PK and I departing Booroobin for Croker Island in 2020. Nancy flew up later.

Aunty Heather sent up a nice bed in 2021 - which PK regularly enjoyed. Below PK tries it out for the first time.

A walk on Mission Beach, Minjilang, Croker Island - just a short walk from our house.

One of PK's many plane rides - not her favourite means of travel but much preferred to being left at home.

She regularly came on the boat patrols with the rangers - here we are pulling a large section of ghost net (lost fishing net).

She really loved travelling in the UTV buggies and would regularly sit between the rangers enjoying the wind in her face.

The rangers loved her and she loved them. They will miss her.

Another walk on Mission Beach, Minjilang, Croker Island (May 2023) - getting older now.

PK was great company on our travels over the last 11 years.
She was a special and lovely natured dog.
She is and will be sorely missed.
Thanks for the many great and happy memories.
RIP
Our little fury friend.
