HOLIDAYS and FAMILY

Hi

Nancy and I pray that all will know joy and be greatly blessed over this Christmas period.

'And foreigners (non-Jews) who bind themselves to the Lord ......... these I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer ......... for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations'. Isaiah 56:6-7.

As I write this I am back in Yarraman enjoying some leave. It has been an especially busy and challenging year. Nancy left Croker Island back in September to attend her family re-union and then has been caring for her sister Heather after her knee joint replacement.

The ranger work at Croker this year started normally enough however moved up a level when Siam weed was discovered on Croker Island. This added quite a lot of extra work to our program as Siam is a particularly nasty weed.

In May, we welcomed Amelia Gayle to our family - daughter of Dean and Kristy and brother for Noah. Below are a few photos of Amelia. Firstly, not long after her birth.

Granny and Pa visiting Darwin from Croker Island and enjoying some time with our grandchildren.

And more recently, Millie with Noah. Both had stints in Royal Darwin Hospital. Thankfully they seem to be back to full health now. When Millie smiles her whole face lights up. As we approach Christmas, Millie is sitting up and it won't be long before she is mobile. They are both such a blessing.

Laura missed Millie's birth as she was holidaying in Italy and Croatia. Modern technology helped bridge the distance gap with regular photos and updates. Laura had a great time enjoying the scenes and tastes of that area. She made some new friends and is already planning her next holiday.

Just before her trip she moved into her new little unit in Brisbane.

Mid-year saw Garngi Rangers busy with mainly fire management work. We joined a Fire Abatement Project a couple of years ago. This project has been running for 10 years - so we are late comers. If we conduct good fire management in our area we received carbon credits which in turn are sold. Companies buy these credits to offset their carbon footprint. Moving forward we should start receiving some significant income from this work.

Below is a photo of the shirt given out at the Arnhem Land Fire Abatement AGM with all the associated ranger group logos. We are the triangular logo near the bottom - Garngi is the local word for the Brahminy Kite.

Over recent months we have been kept busy with marine research, illegal foreign fishing vessels and some Chinese asylum seekers. All this has been covered in previous blog posts so I won't repeat myself.

Jayson has continued working at the RAAF Tindal Base's major upgrade this year. He did have a change of employer earlier in the year. The last few months have been demanding working through the hot and humid build-up period. He is also now enjoying some cooler weather at Yarraman. Below Uncle Jayson catches up with family.

Laura has also join us for Christmas at Yarraman. She has had a busy year at year also with a change of work team - which she is enjoying.

During the year Aunty Laura made two visits to Darwin. Below is a photo taken on the last visit.

Recently Dean took Noah to the Airnorth hangar and showed him around. The photo below was taken in the cockpit of one of Airnorth's Embraer aircraft. Noah's other grandfather, Paddy owns a truck in Geelong. Noah really enjoys rides in the big truck. With our fast changing world, I wonder what Noah's career options will be when he gets to that time.

Dean, Kristy, Noah and Amelia will have their Christmas in Darwin as Dean could not get time off from his work over Christmas this year. Kristy's mum Deb will also be in Darwin for the Christmas/New Year period helping with the little ones.

Thanks to all those who have blessed us this year by keeping in contact. We particularly appreciated visits from Andy and Kathryn Price and Bev McDonald.

We hope and pray that you all can slow down and enjoy some quality time with those dear to you.

Bless ya all. Take care and catch you in 2025.

Bryan and Nancy
